The Conciertos de las Velas
The most anticipated moment of the year is the Conciertos de las Velas (candlelight concerts), organised by the Fundación Villa de Pedraza on the esplanade of the castle on the first two Saturdays of July (in 2026, the 4th and 11th). The town is lit by more than 45,000 candles and thousands of people arrive, many from Madrid. Tickets sell out in advance and those who get them want to sleep nearby to avoid driving at night. It is the date when a house in Pedraza or the surrounding villages rents earliest and best.
A weekend destination all year round
Pedraza keeps its walls, its main square and its castle, and receives mostly visitors from Madrid and from the province itself. The typical visitor is a couple or a group of friends who come to spend the Saturday, eat at a roast-meat restaurant and sleep in the village. Demand is concentrated at weekends and long weekends, with more activity in spring, autumn and Christmas. Many combine Pedraza with Sepúlveda and the Hoces del Duratón gorges, or with Segovia.

If the property is in a building with an owners’ association, since April 2025 you need the express agreement of the neighbours. The warning: the Junta’s draft reform made public in October 2025 proposed banning new tourist homes for five years in municipalities with fewer than 3,000 inhabitants, and Pedraza and the villages around it are below that. The reform has not been approved, but if you have a house and plan to rent it out, the prudent course is to register it as soon as possible. On the national side, the Supreme Court annulled the single rental register in May 2026; you only need the regional registration and to report guests in SES.Hospedajes (Spain’s guest registration system).
